Do It Yourself Buick Rendevous How to Replace Gear Shift Boot

1.1) Under steering column, remove one screw.
2.1) Remove second screw.
3.1) Under left side of steering column.
4.1) Locate latch for small cover.
5.1) Release latch on cover and remove.
6.1) Release front edge of bottom cover.
7.1) With front edge released, push right side of cover toward front of vehicle to release hook on lower panel from upper panel.
8.1) With front edge released, push left side of cover toward front of vehicle to release hook on lower panel from upper panel. Remove bottom cover and set to side.
9.1) Push gear shift boot down shaft for access to screw.
9.2) Remove Torx screw securing gear to steering column.
10.1) Grasp gear shift.
11.1) Remove gear shift.
12.1) Remove gear shift boot.
13.1) Note side contour of gear shift boot for direction of proper installation of new gear shift boot.
14.1) Place boot into position.
15.1) Push gear shift boot down shaft for access to screw opening.
15.2) Install Torx screw securing gear to steering column.
16.1) Install bottom cover and secure.
17.1) When removing dash panel around gauges, use caution, do not rip gear shift boot.
