Honda Prelude Car Stereo Removal and Installation Tech Tips

How to Install, Replace and Remove Car Radio 1.1) Remove four screws along side panel on passenger side of car.
Honda Prelude Stereo Replacement, Removal and Install 2.1) Remove four screws along side panel on driver side of car.
How to Install, Replace and Remove Car Radio 3.1) Remove two screws above car stereo in trim panel.
Honda Prelude Stereo Replacement, Removal and Install 4.1) Set Parking Brake.
4.2) Insert key into center console slot to release gear shift, shift to drive.
How to Install, Replace and Remove Car Radio 5.1) Gently pry trim ring from around gear shift and remove.
Honda Prelude Stereo Replacement, Removal and Install 6.1) Pull side back edges of center console away from center console while lifting back of panel up.
6.2) Pull panel from front of dash and remove.
How to Install, Replace and Remove Car Radio 7.1) Remove two screws from each side of remaining dash trim panel.

12.2) Be sure car stereo antenna and connector are free.
How to Install, Replace and Remove Car Radio 13.1) Snap mounting kit into mounting bracket.
13.2) Again, check that antenna and connector are free.
Honda Prelude Stereo Replacement, Removal and Install 14.1) Slide new car stereo mounting sleeve into opening.
How to Install, Replace and Remove Car Radio 15.1) With flat head screw driver, bend tabs on sleeve to secure.
Honda Prelude Stereo Replacement, Removal and Install 16.1) With aftermarket connector and new car stereo connector, splice together.
How to Install, Replace and Remove Car Radio 17.1) Connect spliced connector to factory connector for car stereo.
17.2) Install antenna connector into back of car stereo.
Honda Prelude Stereo Replacement, Removal and Install 18.1) Slide new car stereo into mounting sleeve till car stereo locks into place.
18.2) Check car stereo before reassembly of dash.

Honda Prelude Front Door Panel Speaker Removal and Installation

Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 1.1) Pry screw cover loose from screw in hand hold.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 2.1) Remove screw and hand hold pocket from door panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 3.1) Remove screw from top inside corner of door panel.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 4.1) Gently pry screw cover from door open handle cavity and remove screw.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 5.1) Gently pull insert trim panel from door panel.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 6.1) Gently pry opposite edge of trip panel from door panel and feed door open handle thru panel to release.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 7.1) Release trigger on panel connector and remove panel.

Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 10.1) Lift rear edge of door panel up out of window jam, then front of panel to remove.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 11.1) This speaker has deteriorated foam surround, the speaker cone has separated from the speaker frame. This is a bad speaker, causes distortion with high bass.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 12.1) Remove three screws securing speaker to door.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 13.1) Release triggers on each side of connector to remove speaker.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 14.1) Cut speaker connector from car.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 15.1) Aftermarket speaker have speaker terminals supplied to install new speakers.

18.1) When removing insert panel, release two connectors from panel.

Honda Tweeter Removal and Installation 1.1) Reach to back of speaker grill cover.
Honda Tweeter Removal and Installation 2.1) Gently pull speaker grill cover straight from dash.
Honda Tweeter Removal and Installation 3.1) Release all mounting clips from grill cover and remove.
Honda Tweeter Removal and Installation 4.1) Factory Tweeter mounts back of speaker grill. Aftermarket tweeter installation in many cases will need some modifications for mounting.
