Toyota Avalon Subwoofer Removal, Replacement and Install Toyota Avalon JBL Subwoofer Speaker Removal 1.1) Gently pry leading edge of subwoofer speaker grill from rear deck. 2.1) Reach toward back of panel, release trigger on connector at center brake to disconnect. 2.2) Remove subwoofer speaker grill cover and set to side. 3.1) Remove screws securing subwoofer and mounting plate to back deck. 4.1) Mounting plate with subwoofer speaker will have to be wedged out of rear deck panel. 5.1) Release trigger at connector on mounting plate and remove subwoofer. 6.1) Peel back edge of speaker cover mesh. 6.2) My fingers are showing between the speaker frame and foam surround on speaker. This separation causes distorted bass. Find a local shop that can re-foam this speaker, usually about $25-35. Much less then the dealership'$ new one. 7.1) Pry connector to slide from frame to release and remove speaker.
