Toyota Tacoma Car Stereo Removal and Installation

Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 1.1) Grasp AC control knob and remove.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 2.1) Remove all AC knobs. Place them in order of removal on floor.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 3.1) Check shafts of AC control knobs for any remaining metal clips.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 4.1) Slide metal clip from AC control shaft.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 5.1) Place metal clip back into knob slot.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 6.1) Gently pry corner of AC control panel from dash releasing clips. All clips release with pressure.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 7.1) Work your way across bottom of panel releasing clips.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 8.1) Remove AC control panel and set to side.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 9.1) Remove one screw in AC control panel cavity left and up.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 10.1) Remove one center screw on right side of AC control panel cavity.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 11.1) Open ash tray.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 12.1) Unlock ash tray and remove.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 13.1) Remove one screw on left at top of ash tray cavity.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 14.1) Remove one screw on right at top of ash tray cavity.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 15.1) Left side of center console, with small screw driver, push center pin on clip in 1/4 inch.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 16.1) Gently pry surrounding base of clip from side panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 17.1) Remove entire clip.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 18.1) For installation of clip, push center pin of clip back through base 1/4 inch.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 19.1) Place base of clip back into opening on panel.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 20.1) Push center pin in, flush with base to lock in place.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 21.1) Repeat pin and base removal for right side of center console.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 22.1) Grasp back of panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 23.1) Pull panel forward releasing clips.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 24.1) From left side, grasp back or panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 25.1) Pull panel forward releasing clips.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 26.1) Pull panel up over lower center console for access.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 27.1) Remove connectors at lighter sockets, remove panel and set to side.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 28.1) Remove one screw at back of ash tray assembly exposed from panel removal.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 29.1) Grasp back edge of front panel.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 30.1) Pull panel forward releasing clips.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 31.1) Work your way up side of panel and around to other side of panel releasing all clips.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 32.1) Pull front panel slightly from dash.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 33.1) Reach over top of panel, release trigger on connector to disconnect.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 34.1) Release trigger on second connector to release and disconnect.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 35.1) Pull top edge of panel away from dash and lay toward floor on passenger side. Keeping all lower connections to panel connected.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 36.1) Remove one screw top left of car stereo.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 37.1) Remove one screw bottom left of car stereo.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 38.1) Remove two screws right side of car stereo.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 39.1) Pull car stereo from dash.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 40.1) Remove antenna and release trigger on connectors to disconnect.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Tacoma Stereo 41.1) During reinstallation of front panel, at top, route top wire bundle away from AC vent opening in dash so panel will seat when pushed back into place.
Tacoma Radio Replacement, Removal and Installation 42.1) At bottom of front panel during installation, be sure bottom clip mates to opening before pushing remainder of front panel into place.

Toyota Tacoma Front Speaker and Tweeter Removal

Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 1.1) Remove screw from door handle cavity.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 2.1) Pull door handle to open position.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 3.1) Push door handle assembly forward toward front of door panel.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 4.1) Release door handle assembly from door panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 5.1) Door handle assembly has four hooks, released when pushing handle toward front of door panel. These clips must line up when reinstalling door handle assembly.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 6.1) Gently pry forward screw cover from door panel under arm rest.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 7.1) Gently pry back screw cover from door panel under arm rest.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 8.1) Remove screw from back cavity.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 9.1) Remove screw from forward cavity.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 10.1) Gently pry front edge of control panel up from door panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 11.1) Release clip at front edge. All clips release with  pressure.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 12.1) Grasp sides of control panel and push toward front of door panel releasing rear clip from door panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 13.1) Release trigger on connectors to disconnect.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 14.1) Remove panel and set to side.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 15.1) Gently pry top edge of triangular panel at top front edge of door panel releasing clip.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 16.1) With top clip released, grasp top of panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 17.1) Pull panel straight up to release bottom clips.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 18.1) Gently pry bottom back edge of door panel from door releasing clips.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 19.1) Work your way across bottom of door panel then up both sides releasing clips.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 20.1) Lift back edge of door panel up out of window jam and over door lock pin. Be sure to align door lock pin when reinstalling door panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 21.1) Lift front edge of door panel up out of window jam. Hold panel in place.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 22.1) Turn panel to feed door handle assembly through opening.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 23.1) Pull top edge of door panel back for access to connector at tweeter. Release trigger on connector and disconnect, set door panel to side.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 24.1) Check door for any remaining door panel clips.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 25.1) Pry door panel clips from door.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 26.1) Install door panel clips back into slots on removed door panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 27.1) Remove screws securing tweeter to door panel.
Tacoma Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 28.1) Remove screws securing 6x9 speaker to door.

NOTE - for determining aftermarket installation polarity of speaker wires for correct hook up see Speaker Phasing above.

Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 29.1) When reinstalling door panel, be sure to connect tweeter connector, feed door handle assembly through door panel and pull control pane wires up though control panel opening.
