Chevy Blazer How to Remove and Replace Front Door Speaker

How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 1.1) Remove screw from door handle trim plate.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 2.1) Grasp leading edge of door handle trim plate.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 3.1) Pull trim plate forward releasing rear clips. All clips release with pressure.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 4.1) Feed door handle trim plate over door handle to remove and set panel to side.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 5.1) Place pry tool under edge of door panel pin.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 6.1) Pry door panel pin from door and set to side.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 7.1) Under arm rest, remove one screw securing door panel to door.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 8.1) Under arm rest, remove second screw securing door panel to door.

Window Crank Removal
Note position of window crank before removal.

9.1) Place shop towel under window crank, between window crank and plastic washer.

Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 10.1) Move shop towel back and forth while pulling up on shop towel.
10.2) This may remove window crank clip, remove window crank.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 11.1) If shop towel does not remove window crank clip, push plastic washer and door panel in to allow for access to clip.
(These past three steps may make this look simple, actually it took about 10 minutes to work the clip from window crank)
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 12.1) Remove window crank and clip.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 13.1) Immediately place window crank clip onto window crank. Window crank with clip will snap back into place when reinstalling. Do you remember the window crank position?
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 14.1) Remove window crank plastic washer, set all to side.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 15.1) Place pry tool under top edge corner of door panel.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 16.1) Pry top edge of panel back to release panel clip.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 17.1) Place pry tool behind bottom back edge of door panel.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 18.1) Pry door panel from door releasing all clips.
18.2) Work your way across bottom of door panel then up front and back of door panel releasing all clips.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 19.1) Pull bottom edge of door panel away from door to allow door open handle to clear.
19.2) Pull top edge of door panel away from door, this panel pin was released in an earlier step.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 20.1) Lift entire door panel up out of window jam to remove.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 21.1) Check door for any remaining door panel clips not removed with door panel.

How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 23.1) Place door panel pins into slots back onto door panel, ready for reinstallation.
23.2) When reinstalling door panel, be sure all panel pins line up with opening in door before pushing panel back into place.

Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 26.1) Remove 6 1/2 inch speaker from door.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 27.1) Release trigger on speaker connector to disconnect.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 28.1) Unwrap several inches of protective tape from speaker wires in door.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 29.1) Clip speaker connector from speaker wire harness back about 1 1/2 to 2 inches.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal How to determine speaker phase for proper hook up of aftermarket speaker.

1.1) Strip wires on connector cut from previous step.
1.2) Place connector back onto removed speaker.

How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 2.1) Use a 1.5 volt battery for the next step.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 3.1) Place battery between spliced leads on speaker connector.
3.2) The speaker cone will pop and move in or out.
3.3) Turn battery to position that causes speaker cone to pop out.
3.4) When speaker cone pops out, note the color of the wire on the (+) positive side of the battery.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Installation 4.1) Back to speaker opening in door.
4.2) Aftermarket speaker may provide a wires or a small piece of speaker wire for installation.
4.3) Slice speaker wire onto factory wires remembering which wire was (+) positive from the previous step.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 5.1) Connect speaker and install.

Speaker phasing is important. Incorrect speaker phasing will cause a loss of bass when listening to stereo.

Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 1.1) Remove one screw.
Installing Speakers, Removal and Replacement 2.1) Lift front edge of panel away from door panel releasing back clip.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 3.1) Lift plastic panel inside door pull.
3.2) Remove two exposed screws.
Installing Speakers, Removal and Replacement 4.1) Remove window crank.

*NOTE - There is a trick to this. Use the edge of a towel, inserted between the door panel and crank. Work the towel back and forth, this may release the clip. Some occasions, a pick tool is needed between the door panel and crank to release clip or a window clamp tool.

Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 5.1) Clip released, remove.
5.2) Remove widow crank, immediately insert clip onto window crank. You will not loose the clip this way and the window crank will snap back on during reinstallation.
Installing Speakers, Removal and Replacement 6.1) Remove panel up back side of window, releasing three clips.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 7.1) Remove two screws securing front panel along window and remove.
Installing Speakers, Removal and Replacement 8.1) Remove door panel by releasing clips by starting at bottom of panel.
8.2) Lift panel up out of window sill.
Replacing Speakers, Install and Removal 9.1) Remove screws securing speaker to door.

IMPORTANT - There are two (2) yellow*, two (2) gray and two (2) brown wires in this harness. Locate the +12 volt constant wire first. Label it or splice to constant wire on aftermarket stereo first. Swapping yellow wires will cause damage to any aftermarket stereo. Check fuses if your unable to find +12 volts.
