Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal and Replacement

Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 1.1) Open glove box.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 2.1) Grasp passenger side fuse box cover.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 3.1) Remove fuse box cover releasing clips. Set panel to side. All clips release with pressure.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 4.1) Remove exposed screw.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 5.1) Open ash tray assembly.

NOTE - Ash tray cover is spring loaded and pops up. When reinstalling front dash panel, be very careful, ash tray cover may get stuck behind panel. Push cover down when reinstalling dash panel.

Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 6.1) Grasp driver side fuse box cover.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 7.1) Remove fuse box cover releasing clips. Set panel to side.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 8.1) Remove one exposed screw.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 9.1)From under dash, driver's side, release two clips, lower panel to floor.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 10.1) Remove exposed screw from bottom of panel next to hood release lever.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 11.1) Remove second lower screw from same panel.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 12.1) Pull edge of panel from dash releasing clip.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 13.1) From under steering column, pull edge of panel forward from dash releasing clip.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 14.1) Pull top edge of panel down for access to connector.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 15.1) Turn panel 180 degrees for access to release trigger on connector, disconnect.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 16.1) Check removed panel for missing clips. Locate clips on car.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 17.1) Pry clip to remove.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 18.1) Place clip back onto panel, ready for reinstallation.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 19.1) Remove one exposed screw from panel removal left of steering column.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 20.1) Remove two screws on dash panel above gauges.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 21.1) Set parking brake, lower steering column to down position.

NOTE - Now is a good time to remove car key from key ring, have a single key ready for ignition key slot.

Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 22.1) Pull down on dash trim panel above gauges.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 23.1) While pulling down on dash panel above gauges, pull left side of panel from dash releasing clips.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 24.1) Pull right side of dash trim panel from dash releasing clips.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 25.1) Work your way across bottom of dash trim panel releasing clips.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 26.1) Ignition key ring panel will pop from dash when applying pressure for panel removal. Set key ring panel to side. This panel will snap back into place when dash panel is reinstalled.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 27.1) Set parking brake NOW, if it was not set in an earlier step.
27.2) Insert single key into ignition, shift to low gear.

NOTE - Single key will allow panel to be removed over it, watch clearance when removing panel.

Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 28.1) Pull entire dash panel from dash. When pulling panel from dash, pull emergency flasher part of dash straight back from dash. This is a long switch assembly and needs room to clear upper dash.
 
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 29.1) Release trigger on connector at emergency flasher to disconnect.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 30.1) Squeeze release clips on sides of emergency flasher assembly while pushing through front of dash panel.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 31.1) Feed emergency flasher assembly through front of dash panel.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 32.1) Remove emergency flasher assembly from panel.

NOTE - Emergency flasher assembly will be reinstalled after dash panel.

Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 33.1) Lift left side of dash trim panel up over steering column.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 34.1) Remove entire panel from dash and set to side.
34.2) Check panel for missing clips.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 35.1) Pry remaining clips from dash, reinstall on panel ready for reinstallation.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation NOTE - While removing dash panel, we had the head light trim panel release.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 36.1) Install right side of head light trim panel into slot.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 37.1) Snap left side of head light trim panel into place.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 38.1) Remove three screws securing car stereo to dash.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 39.1) Pull car stereo from dash.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 40.1) Remove antenna and release triggers on connectors to disconnect.
Chevrolet Impala Car Stereo Removal, Replacement and Installation 41.1) During reinstallation, feed emergency flasher connector through opening in dash panel.
41.2) Watch spring loaded cover on ash tray so it does not get caught behind panel.
41.3) Watch key in ignition for clearance.
Install Stereo, Removal and Replacement 42.1) The corners of dash trim panel were a little tricky during installation. They required a little pressure to have them clear the upper dash trim and set in place.
42.2) Connect emergency flasher assembly and push into opening until it locks into place.

Chevrolet Impala How to Remove Front Door Panel Speaker

Speaker Installation, Replacing and Installing 1.1) Remove one screw top front of door panel.
How to Replace Speaker, Remove and Install 2.1) Remove one screw from door handle cavity.
Speaker Installation, Replacing and Installing 3.1) Gently pry leading edge of door handle panel from door panel releasing clips. All clips release with pressure.
How to Replace Speaker, Remove and Install 4.1) Remove door handle panel over door handle.
Speaker Installation, Replacing and Installing 5.1) Trigger on this connector is not accessible.
5.2) Release locks on securing door lock switch to panel.

NOTE - When reinstalling door panel, be sure this connector is routed to opening in door panel.

NOTE - When reinstalling door panel, be sure these connectors are routed to opening in door panel.

17.2) Pull panel from door to release clips.

19.2) Set door panel to side.

How to Replace Speaker, Remove and Install NOTE - During removal, you may have noticed two screws on bottom of door panel. These screws secure side pocket insert to door panel and do not need to be removed.
Speaker Installation, Replacing and Installing NOTE - When reinstalling control panel, be sure wires are routed as not to be pinched between hand hold and mounting.

How to Remove and Replace - Rear Speaker and Amplifier

Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 1.1) Move front seats and seat backs forward for better access.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 2.1) Grasp bottom seat cushion at leading edge of rear seat at center of driver's side passenger position.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 3.1) Pull center of rear seat straight up releasing latch. This may take some pressure.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 4.1) Repeat for rear seat on passenger's side to release latch.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 5.1) Lift front edge of rear seat bottom cushion up and forward to release and remove.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 6.1) At bottom of rear seat back cushion, remove one nut from center of driver's side passenger seat.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 7.1) At bottom of rear seat back cushion, remove one nut from center of passenger's side passenger seat.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 8.1) Grasp bottom edge of rear seat back cushion.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 9.1) Pull bottom edge of rear seat back cushion forward to allowing both securing brackets to clear over bolts.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 10.1) Lift rear seat back cushion straight up.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 11.1) Lifting rear seat back cushion straight up will release four hooks on cushion from frame of car.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 12.1) Remove rear seat back cushion.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 13.1) Along leading edge of rear deck panel are three clips. Gently Pry under deck panel at clips to release clips and remove.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 14.1) Sides of rear deck panel are over lapped by side panels approximately one half inch.
14.2) Push center of rear deck panel up to bow rear panel.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 15.1) Guide rear deck panel up and away from rear deck.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 16.1) Rear deck panel has center seat belt attached, slide rear deck panel down to rear seat back position for access.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 17.1) There are two ways to remove rear speaker.
17.2) Remove four screws securing rear speaker to mounting ring. Or...
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 18.1) From trunk side, squeeze to plastic clips and push clip up.
18.2) For amplifier removal, release triggers on connectors to disconnect.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 19.1) Speaker ring will need to be pried from rear deck after releasing clips.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 20.1) Lift edge of speaker assembly up.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 21.1) Tab on opposite side of speaker ring will release from rear deck.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install 22.1) Release trigger on connector at speaker to disconnect.
22.2) Repeat for opposite speaker.

NOTE - for determining aftermarket installation polarity of speaker for correct hook up see Speaker Phasing.

Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation 23.1) Amplifier is secured by four clips. Pry mounting clips at each corner and remove amplifier.
Removing Speakers, Replace and Install NOTE - While reinstalling rear deck, one trim ring popped off. To reinstall, lift rear deck panel up to slide black trim panel under panel and over hook.
Speaker Replacement, Remove and Installation Trim rings snap back together.
