How to Replace Front Speakers, Chevrolet Silverado Removal and Installation

How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 1.1) Gently pry top triangular panel from top of panel from door.
1.2) This panel hinges out from bottom.
1.3) Remove panel and set to side.
How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 2.1) From under armrest, remove one 7mm bolt.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 3.1) Gently pry insert panel from door open handle starting at back edge of car.
3.2) This panel also hinges out from front of door panel.
How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 4.1) Feed panel off of door handle.
4.2) Set panel to side.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 5.1) Remember direction of window crank before removing.
How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado There are two ways to attempt to remove window crank handle.
6.1a) With a shop towel, work shop towel back and forth between door panel and window crank.

*CAUTION - We suggest doing these steps over pavement. This clip will spring loose and you will have to locate it. You will loose it in the grass.

How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install

Removal with Pick Tool.

6.1b) With a pick tool, push door panel in at window crank, you can see the clip on the window crank looking down the edge of the door panel.

How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 7.1) Lock pick tool into clip to release.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 8.1) Removed window crank clip.
How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 9.1) Remove window crank from door panel.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 10.1) Immediately install window crank clip onto window crank.
10.2) The window crank will snap back on during the installation process.
10.3) Set window crank to side.
How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 11.1) Remove one 7mm bolt from bottom leading edge of door panel.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 12.1) Gently pry door lock switch from door panel by starting at back edge of door panel lock.
How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 13.1) Leading edge of door panel lock will hinge out from door panel.
13.2) When installing door panel lock, the metal linkage should line up with slot in door panel lock.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 14.1) Remove one exposed 7mm bolt from door panel lock cavity.
How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 15.1) Door panel releases straight up, tapping bottom of door panel up loosens door panel hooks and door panel can be removed.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 16.1) You now have access to door panel speaker, 6 1/2".

How to Replace Speakers, Remove and Install Chevrolet Silverado 19.1) Release bottom hooks to remove speaker.
How to Remove Speakers, Replace and Install 20.1) Push on trigger at speaker connector to release speaker.
20.2) Aftermarket speakers will have to be mounted by drilling new screw holes and splicing speaker wires.

How to Remove Rear Speakers, Installation and Replacement Chevrolet Silverado

How to Replace Speakers, Removal and Insall 1.1) Gently pull rear panel across back of truck forward.
How to Install Speakers, Removing and Replacing 2.1) This will release all clips securing panel, remove panel and set to side.
How to Replace Speakers, Removal and Insall 3.1) Remove two screws exposed from back panel removal.
How to Install Speakers, Removing and Replacing 4.1) Side panel is locked under door jam panel.
4.2) You can cheat on this one!
How to Replace Speakers, Removal and Insall 5.1) Remove side panel by starting at top releasing all clip.
5.2) This panel will hinge away from side of truck but remain locked under door jam panel.
How to Install Speakers, Removing and Replacing 6.1) Push down on clip at top of speaker. This is a 4" x 6" speaker.
How to Replace Speakers, Removal and Insall 7.1) Speaker hinges off of door panel.
7.2) Release bottom hooks to remove speaker.
How to Install Speakers, Removing and Replacing 8.1) Push on trigger at speaker connector to release speaker.
8.2) Aftermarket speakers will have to be mounted by drilling new screw holes and splicing speaker wires.

How to Replace Speakers, Removal and Insall 9.1) When reinstalling side panel, be sure guides and clips line up with holes before snapping into place.
How to Install Speakers, Removing and Replacing 10.1) Check rear deck for any clips left in slots and not removed with panel.
How to Replace Speakers, Removal and Insall 11.1) Remove clips from openings.
11.2) You may loose clips into opening, a magnet can retrieve them through openings in rear deck.

12.2) When reinstalling panel, be sure clips line up with openings in rear deck before snapping into place.

How to Install Front Pillar Tweeter, Removing and Replacing

1.1) Pry top edge of side trim panel from pillar releasing clip. All clips release with pry pressure.
2.1) Pry down along edge of side trim panel.
3.1) Lift bottom of side panel up, two tabs release from lower dash panel.
4.1) Looking through front windshield down toward front dash panel, see two opening. Bottom tabs on side trim panel mate to these openings.
5.1) Looking through front windshield down toward front dash panel, pull tweeter wire up from dash for access to connector.
6.1) Squeeze trigger on side of connector into connector to release.
7.1) Remove side trim panel.
8.1) With small flat head screw driver, gently pry clips from tabs on side of tweeter assembly.
9.1) Pry all clips around tweeter assembly releasing all tabs.
10.1) Pry all clips around tweeter assembly releasing all tabs.
11.1) Remove tweeter.

1978 - 1992
IMPORTANT - There are two (2) yellow*, two (2) gray and two (2) brown wires in this harness. Locate the +12 volt constant wire first. Label it or splice to constant wire on aftermarket stereo first. Swapping yellow wires will cause damage to any aftermarket stereo. Check fuses if your unable to find +12 volts.
