How to Remove and Install Car Stereo
1.1) With small
flat head screw driver, gently pry two side panels from car stereo
and remove.

2.1) Many Mazda stereos
require one set (2) of din tools (special U-shaped tools). The Mazda Millenia requires two
sets (4) inserted into holes on each side of stereo to release the locking mechanism.
2.2) Pull stereo from dash, disconnect antenna and wires.
*NOTE - On the
rare occasion, when din tools are inserted and do not lock, the spring
brackets may be misaligned.
3.1) Gently pry on AC vents to remove.
4.1) Be careful to remove entire vent assembly,
front dash trim panel may clip free but can be snapped back into place.
5.1) With AC vents removed, place hand into
opening to push side spring lever in toward stereo (where thumb is) while
inserting "Din" tools. They should now lock into place and allow removal.

How to Remove and Install Front Speakers
1.1) Open side pocket and remove two screws
securing door panel to door.
2.1) Release screw cover and remove screw
from top leading edge of door panel.
3.1) Gently pry door open handle trim panel
from door panel and remove.
4.1) Gently pry triangular panel from top
leading edge of door panel.
5.1) Pull bottom edge of door panel from door
releasing door panel pins. Lift panel up out of window jam.
6.1) Pull top edge of door panel away from
door allowing access to all connectors to door panel. Release trigger on
connectors and remove connectors.
7.1) Bose amplifier is located on the speaker
frame assembly. Remove white connector at end of amplifier, remove four
screws securing Bose amplifier to enclosure assembly.

Distorted Rear Speaker
1.1) Open rear deck lid.
1.2) Remove four clips securing pocket by lifting center tab and removing
with anchor.
1.3) Remove pocket insert.
2.1) Remove four exposed screws
securing sides of panel.
3.1) Empty trunk of contents, when removing
panel, clips will fall into trunk and be easier to locate.
3.2) Remove panel.
4.1) Remove four screws securing Bose speaker and amplifier to rear deck.
4.2) Lift Bose speaker with amplifier up out of cavity, disconnect
connector.
4.3) Tape cardboard over face of Bose speaker for protection during
shipping, see our

The rear Bose
Speakers, 6 X 9's, may have two problems that can cause
distorted sound at higher volumes with bass. You can repair these problems yourself.
Save the cost of purchasing new speakers, $100-500. First, follow the removal
instructions posted on the website for your specific car.

In the two pictures to the left:
Top picture shows a loose center dust cover.
Bottom picture shows a flopping center dust cover.
We find that a 3/5 minute epoxy works well for securing the center dust
cover.
*Be Careful - do not allow excess glue to seep past
the dust cover into speaker coil.
In this picture the black plastic trim ring around the speaker is loose. Usually a
slight tug upwards near the four corners where the screws mount the Bose
speaker frame to the rear deck uncovers this problem.Removing the screw from the area that is loose and finding
a longer screw along with a large washer works to hold this plastic trim down.
DO NOT REMOVE PLASTIC TRIM!
